Christmas Blitz Day 2: The Unknown Elf

Marie never expected to wake up in North Pole City, let alone become Santa’s Emergency Replacement. It was a job she never wanted but couldn’t turn down, thanks to Clarence, Santa’s right hand man. Now, Marie has to work with Clarence, who believes she is some kind of criminal who will cause the destruction of everything he holds dear. Trying to prove that he’s wrong, Marie keeps making mistakes that push them even further apart. It doesn’t help that she has a past she’d rather keep hidden. However, trying to keep her past where it should belong isn’t easy. Just when Marie starts to feel like things are coming together, a madman with a bone to pick, and Christmas to ruin, threatens the whole of the North Pole Organization. Marie must rely on Clarence and her new friends to help her face her past before Christmas is gone forever. But does she have the courage to truly be herself when it could mean losing everything?

            

Karlie Lucas is a preschool teacher by day and a writer/artist by night.

A graduate of Southern Utah University, Karlie received a B.A. in Creative Writing, with a minor in art. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, The International English Honor Society, as well as ANWA, the American Night Writers Association.

Karlie is interested in all things magical and mysterious, especially elves and dragons. She is an avid fan of J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling.

When not writing, Karlie can often be found drawing, baking, watching her favorite old school shows, or just spending time with her family.

She currently resides in Dallas, Texas with her husband and a cat named Kally.

1.      What is your favorite part of writing?

 I love it when the characters talk to me and tell me their story, because it really is their story.

2.      Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I want all of my readers to get a sense of being able to achieve the seemingly impossible. Too many people feel trapped by circumstances, weak, unloved, or any number of negative things. I want to show them that no matter how bad life is, they can do something to make it better.

Ten things about me:

1. I almost double-majored in college, Creative Writing, and almost General Art.

2. I'm not a fan of seafood, though I will eat breaded fish, like fish sticks and fish patties for sandwiches.

3. I am also the director/producer of an amateur radio drama.

4. I am proudly owned by a ginger tabby.

5. Back in college, I took Kenpo karate.

6. My husband thinks that I was an "East European cab driver in a past life", which is apparently why I'm such an adventurous driver.

7. I really like dragons. And elves. And Christmas.

8. I know a lot of voice actors who work for FUNimation, the anime voice over company in Texas.

9. I've never gotten a speeding ticket.

10. I really like to be creative in the kitchen.

Christmas Blitz Day 1: Echo Of Her Presence

I have one of those brains that won't turn off at night. Many nights I would distract my intellect by revamping a movie, book or TV show in my mind. I would twist and turn the plots and characters to achieve the ending I preferred. That developed into side stories about my favorite minor characters. Each night I fell asleep in the middle of a grand adventure. It wasn't long before I began to create stories of my own and put pen to paper.

I love a good adventure. I love a good romance. As the mother of seven children, I also learned to love to play video games. One day it occurred to me to write an adventure that flowed like a video game and I added a touch of romance. Thus, Hypnotic Journey was born. The HJ characters are like a family to me. They are foolish, daring, resourceful, passionate and dedicated to their friends.

My love for Science Fiction gave birth to the Treborel Series. It’s a paranormal Sci-Fi romance featuring a psychotic villain and a multiple layer

of hero's fighting to survive the chaos.

I write about how friendship and love can carry you through situations that you might not otherwise survive. You will find my stories exciting and steamy, but I am not an erotic writer. My stories fade to dark when the steam begins to rise, but take it from me, the steam does rise and emotions do soar.

 Snippet Time!

Even angel’s get sunburnt. Ariel’s ivory skin held a light pink glow. The Texan sun was merciless. She gazed across the cattle range searching for her target. The drought was real enough. Even the usually humid Texas air was so dry the sweat didn’t have time to form on her skin. Her long chestnut hair flowed freely about her shoulders as a hot wind brushed against her.

She left her wings extended in an attempt to shade her bare arms and back. A tan top and jeggings were a bad choice of wardrobe for today.  Neither were the white tennis shoes on this rocky soil. The unhindered sunlight illuminated the  cobalt blue center of her wings that were wrapped in a deep purple hue which sprang from an emerald green base. Her wings ended with a thin tan border. “SPF 50,” she muttered, licking her parched lips. “And a side of icy bottled water. That would make my day.”

Bringing rain to a drought plagued land was a slow process. Ariel found the dry stream bed she was searching for and glanced up at the sky. She spread her arms out wide and closed her eyes, concentrating. If she pulled storm clouds to her too quickly the resulting storms could devastate the entire southern region of the US. High winds, Tornados, flash floods, and destructive lightening running ramped across the land would not put her in favor with the Big Guy.

She wiggled her fingers as her thoughts flowed west across Texas toward Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. The jet stream ran directly across Mexico from the ocean toward Texas. Then she reached north past New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada to the jet stream that rushed across California and down into Texas. She gently pulled moisture toward Texas. It would take several days possibly a week or more for enough moisture to build and move into the state. She had to bring it slowly to avoid torrential rains that would do nothing more than produce run off and flooding.

Book Tour and Review The Ring of Remaliha

Well I finally have branched out and did a review for the first time, hope you enjoy it!

4.5 Stars out of 5

I am always hesitant reading new books from new authors because I have very limited time to read and don't want to waste it on a mediocre book. That being said I am very glad I took a chance on this book. This book was fun to read and had great twists and turns, some which I could see coming but a few that caught me off guard. The author also did a great job tying up the loose ends those plot twists presented. Now I must admit I hate books where the main characters do something really stupid (like not communicating with each other) however the story was written well enough and made the stupid actions believable enough that I didn’t want to scream at the characters in frustration. Over all the story line was fast paced, the plot intricate yet believable, and the characters well developed. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes clean books with action, adventure, and a smidgen of romance. This book would also appeal to those who enjoy YA books.

He had strode into her office demanding to talk to her. Sean didn’t want to let him in, but Peter had pushed his way through the door. Astonished, April had jumped to her feet. Peter looked like he had just come from an archaeological dig, and with his leather jacket and ruggedly handsome face, he had reminded her of Indiana Jones. As soon as he saw April, Peter had apologized for the intrusion, introduced himself, and begged for her help.

Debbie currently resides in beautiful Sonoma County, California, where the jagged Pacific coastline meets the rolling hills cascading with vineyards. She writes romance novellas that feature strong, independent women, who when faced with adversity, or tragedy, fine strength and overcome the perils that stand in their way. She’s an avid supporter of animal rescue, and happily donates a portion of sales from her books to rescue organizations. She has two adult children, and two granddaughters. After we had returned to the mainland, we settled into marriage great. Our union was a happy one filled with much laughter and kindness. I craved those things, and Charles made sure every day was filled with both.

We still were hitting the pavement, chasing bad guys, or gals, and reaping the monetary awards for a job well done. The work seemed to never end. We were newlyweds, though, and so in between our jobs, we always made time for one another.

Charles was the greatest lover on earth. Not that I had anyone to compare him to. I just knew there was no one better than him. Feeling more comfortable with our union, I decided to take a bit of liberty with my role as a wife. I would greet him at the door with a cocktail, and a warm wet kiss; letting him know there was more where that came from. I would prepare his favorite dinner; letting him know dessert would be in the bedroom. He never seemed to find my gestures too forward. He loved me, and I loved him.
